In a Nutshell
  • Joyroom JR-S-CL20 (store SKU JK08, GTIN 6956116750091, ~118 EGP) is a 1.2m braided USB-C→Lightning cable listed up to 20W USB-PD for Lightning iPhones (8–14 / SE) and Lightning iPads. CairoVolt is an independent retailer; the cable carries our store warranty.
  • MFi honesty first: opened sample CV-CB-JRSCL20-001 carried Joyroom branding + a 20W listing — no Apple “Made for iPhone” / MFi logo. On FNIRSI FNB58 the Lightning-end auth response was NOT confirmed as a genuine Apple C-series IC (contrast Anker SureIStrong A8652H21 same lab week). iOS showed “This accessory may not be supported” on iPhone 13. Treat any MFi claim as vendor-stated until your package proves otherwise.
  • Electricals (instrumented): tip-to-tip 121 cm (5m fiberglass tape); weight 21 g (Kkmoon 0.01g). V-drop at controlled 5V/2A: 0.15 V (≈75 mΩ VBUS+GND) on FNB58, AVHzY CT-3 ±0.01 V. Peak into iPhone 13 via Anker A2147 30W PD: 18.9 W (FNB58 @ 9.01 V / 2.10 A) — inside Apple’s ~20–27 W wired ceiling (MacRumors).
  • PD ~20W class vs USB-A JR-S-AL24 (gold sibling CV-CB-JRSAL24-001): CL20 negotiated 9V PD and hit 18.9 W; AL24 stays on USB-A ~5V / ~2.4A rails at 11.6 W (FNB58) — different connector family, different power class. Do not buy AL24 expecting “20W fast charge.”
  • A/B vs Anker SureIStrong A8652H21 (CV-CB-A8652H21-001): electricals close (18.9 W vs 19.5 W; 0.15 V/1.2m vs 0.17 V/1.8m @ 5V/2A) — Anker wins verified MFi / silent iOS; Joyroom wins price + braided 1.2m bag fit. Mid-span 36.4°C after 10 min @ 5V/2A (GM320, ambient 28.5°C). USB 2.0 only. Not for iPhone 15/16/17. Not on Anker recall lists (Joyroom brand — checked anker.com/product-recalls 2026-07-24).
🇪🇬How this fits Egyptian use — deep dive (airlines · heat · electricity)

CairoVolt is an independent retailer — this cable carries our store warranty. JR-S-CL20 (JK08, GTIN 6956116750091, ~118 EGP) is the budget braided USB-C→Lightning answer for Egypt’s still-large Lightning iPhone base (iPhone 8–14, SE 2020/2022, Lightning iPads). Do not confuse with JR-S-AL24 (USB-A→Lightning ~12W TPE) or JR-S-CL30B (different Lightning braid MPN). Six scenarios. RIGHT FOR: (1) LIGHTNING iPHONE DAILY DRIVER ON A BUDGET — Apple caps wired peak at ~20–27W (MacRumors); we measured 18.9W into iPhone 13 via A2147 30W PD (FNB58), close to Anker A8652H21’s 19.5W on the same brick — the phone is the ceiling when PD negotiates. (2) STUDENT / SHARED-HOUSE SPARE at ~118 EGP — braided jacket resists bag abrasion better than AL24’s glossy TPE; replaceable without hesitation. (3) CAREEM / UBER DRIVER with a USB-C car charger (Anker A2741 30W / A2732 35W / Joyroom car charger) — 1.2m reaches cigarette lighter → phone in the passenger seat. (4) LIGHTNING iPad 9th gen at AUC/GUC/Cairo University — pairs with a 20–30W PD brick for a normal session. (5) FAMILY HOUSEHOLD drawer cable for Lightning AirPods cases and older Lightning iPads. (6) TRAVEL / EGYPTAIR CARRY-ON — 21g measured (0.01g scale); drops into any pocket. WRONG FOR: (7) BUYER WHO NEEDS CONFIRMED APPLE MFi — our sample had no MFi packaging mark; iOS showed the accessory warning; buy Anker A8652H21 / A8612H11 if silent iOS acceptance matters. (8) iPHONE 15 / 16 / 17 — USB-C native; use Joyroom JR-S-CC60 or Anker A8865-class USB-C to USB-C. (9) BUYER STUCK ON USB-A WALL BRICKS who expects 20W — USB-A Lightning (AL24) caps ~11.6W; you need a USB-C PD brick + this CL20 (or A8652) for the ~19W class. (10) MacBook / USB-C iPad Pro — Lightning cannot deliver laptop-class PD. HEAT: Cairo July–August mean high 35°C (WeatherSpark). Mid-span at 5V/2A was 36.4°C (GM320) in a 28.5°C room — fine at Lightning-class current; keep cables shaded on a Cairo dashboard. AUTHENTICITY: check printed “JR-S-CL20” on the housing and GTIN 6956116750091 on the packaging; do not assume MFi from the Joyroom logo alone. ELECTRICITY: fully charging an iPhone 13 (12.41 Wh) from a 20W wall brick via this cable uses ≈0.017 kWh — under 4 piastres on the EgyptERA Sept-2024 tariff. CROSS-SKU / CROSS-BRAND A/B (same lab week): vs JR-S-AL24 — CL20 = 18.9W PD / 0.15V@2A / 1.2m braid / ~118 EGP; AL24 = 11.6W USB-A / 0.13V@2A / ~1m TPE / ~43 EGP — different power class. vs Anker SureIStrong A8652H21 — Joyroom = shorter (1.2m vs 1.8m), braided vs soft-touch, cheaper, electricals close (18.9W vs 19.5W; 0.15V/1.2m vs 0.17V/1.8m @ 5V/2A) — Anker wins on verified MFi / silent iOS acceptance.

Editorial Note

Editorial Content
Prepared by the CairoVolt editorial team

“JR-S-CL20 is a USB-C to Lightning cable whose useful specifications are connector type, exact charging/data ratings, length, construction and any model-specific MFi statement. Compare those with your device and live terms.”

Product FAQs

How durable is this cable?

Braiding may help resist abrasion, but bend counts are manufacturer test figures and do not guarantee a fixed lifespan. Avoid sharp bends and pulling from the wire.

Does it support data transfer?

Verify the exact JR-S-CL20 data specification on the package and current documentation before relying on it for sync.

Will it charge an iPad?

Only if the iPad has a Lightning port and accepts a supported profile. USB-C iPads need USB-C to USB-C.

Does it support fast charging?

Charging requires a compatible USB-C PD source and Lightning device. The device controls accepted power, so actual rate varies.

Is it MFi certified?

Verify any MFi statement for the exact SKU on the supplied packaging or current manufacturer documentation; do not infer permanent future compatibility.

Details

The Joyroom USB-C to Lightning cable (JR-S-CL20) connects a USB-C source to compatible Lightning devices. Joyroom lists charging and data specifications for the exact model; actual power depends on the phone, charger profile and cable condition. It does not connect to iPhone models with a USB-C port. Verify length, data rating and any MFi statement on the supplied package and current manufacturer documentation.

Key checks

  • ⚡ USB-C PD: a compatible charger and Lightning device must negotiate a supported profile.
  • 🔗 Braided exterior: can help with abrasion but does not guarantee a fixed lifespan.
  • 🧪 Bend rating: treat the number as a manufacturer test under specified conditions, not years of use.
  • 💾 blocked: verify the exact data capability for JR-S-CL20 before relying on it for sync.
  • 🍏 MFi: verify the statement for this exact SKU; do not infer permanent future iOS compatibility.

How to verify JR-S-CL20

Match both connector types, model number, rated power, data capability, length and package contents. Stop using a cable with a damaged sheath, loose connector or unusual heat.

Charging Depends on the Whole Setup

The phone controls accepted power. A “20W” cable label does not guarantee a fixed charging rate, prevent heat or prove battery protection. Use a compatible USB-C PD charger, keep connectors clean and avoid tight bends at the strain relief.

Braiding and Bend-Test Claims

Braiding and reinforced connector housings may reduce everyday abrasion. Bend-count claims use a controlled method and do not translate directly into a number of months or years. Pull from the connector body, not the cable.

Lightning Device Compatibility

Use this cable only with devices that physically have a Lightning port and support the required charging or data mode. USB-C iPhone and iPad models require a different cable.

Compatibility checklist

  • Lightning iPhone or iPad: confirm the physical port and device charging specification.
  • AirPods with Lightning case: confirm the case connector.
  • USB-C source: match the charger's profile; a USB-A charger is not the same connection.
  • USB-C iPhone/iPad: not compatible; use USB-C to USB-C.

🔬Bench-tested at CairoVolt

A real hands-on measurement — tap to show the verdict and numbers.

The verdict

JR-S-CL20 is an electrically honest budget Lightning PD cable (0.15V @ 2A/1.2m, 18.9W into iPhone 13) — ~7W above USB-A AL24’s 11.6W class — but MFi was not verified on our sample (iOS accessory warning). Prefer Anker A8652H21 when confirmed MFi matters; Joyroom when price and 1.2m braid matter more; AL24 only when stuck on USB-A bricks.

How we tested it

ELEVATED §7.4 gold deepen (Wave Adj/Mid 4/8) for JR-S-CL20 sample CV-CB-JRSCL20-001 — Eng. Omar Khaled, 2026-07-24. Preserved instrumented truths from the first protocol-grade pass; deepen adds PD-class ladder vs AL24 and explicit SureIStrong A8652 A/B. Per Bench Test Protocol §7.4 (cables): tip-to-tip length with a 5m fiberglass tape; weight on a Kkmoon 0.01g scale. MFi honesty: visual check for Apple Made for iPhone / MFi logo on the opened package; Lightning-end authentication presence checked via FNIRSI FNB58 (fw 1.3) while inline between Anker A2147 30W PD and a live iPhone 13 (battery health 89%, start SoC 22%); iOS accessory-warning behaviour logged over a 45-min session. Peak negotiated wattage and 9V PD voltage stability logged on FNB58 during the 22%→45% climb; cross-checked with AVHzY CT-3 (agreement 0.05 W). Voltage drop: controlled 2A constant-current at 5V through JUWEI 35W electronic load on the USB-C side plus a Lightning-to-USB-A load jig on the Lightning end (jig for load simulation ONLY — not part of the delivered accessory chain); FNB58 source-vs-load V, AVHzY CT-3 cross-check (±0.01 V). Cable surface temperature: BENETECH GM320 (ε=0.95) at three mid-span points and strain-relief after 10 minutes at 5V/2A. Continuity rechecked after 50 manual flex cycles (30° at each strain relief) — Joyroom bend-test figure NOT translated into a lifetime promise. Cross-brand A/B uses published CairoVolt results for Anker A8652H21 (19.5 W peak, 0.17 V @ 5V/2A over 1.8m, verified MFi, silent iOS accept). Cross-SKU PD-class contrast uses JR-S-AL24 gold (11.6 W USB-A, 0.13 V @ 5V/2A over 1.01m) — disclosure only; do not paste AL24 watts onto this PD sample. Independent corroboration (not our data): Apple iPhone 13 12.41 Wh + ~20W wired PD ceiling (apple.com/iphone-13/specs, MacRumors); USB-IF PD 3.0 on usb.org (E-marker above 3A/60W — N/A to Lightning auth); anker.com/product-recalls 2026-07-24. Single retail unit; production batches may vary. Not measured this date: in-vehicle CarPlay; independent IC teardown (housings not opened).

✅ Strengths (measured)

  • •V-drop 0.15 V at 5V/2A over 1.2m (FNB58; AVHzY ±0.01 V) — ≈75 mΩ implied; within §7.4 acceptable band for Lightning-class copper at 2A
  • •18.9 W peak into iPhone 13 from A2147 30W PD (FNB58 @ 9.01 V / 2.10 A) — inside Apple’s wired ceiling; only 0.6 W under A8652H21 same-brick class; ~7 W above AL24 USB-A
  • •Mid-span 36.4°C after 10 min at 5V/2A (GM320, ambient 28.5°C) — braided jacket ventilates fine at Lightning-class current
  • •Length 121 cm / weight 21 g (tape + 0.01g scale) — bag-friendly 1.2m braid at ~118 EGP vs longer premium Anker soft-touch
  • •Not on Anker cable recall lists (Joyroom brand; A8482/A8483/A8465 verified anker.com/product-recalls 2026-07-24)

⚠️ Limitations (measured)

  • •MFi NOT verified on sample CV-CB-JRSCL20-001 — no Apple MFi packaging mark; Lightning auth not confirmed as genuine Apple C-series on FNB58; iOS showed “This accessory may not be supported.” Buy Anker A8652H21 / A8612H11 when silent MFi acceptance matters
  • •Lightning connector — NOT for iPhone 15/16/17 (USB-C native); use JR-S-CC60 or A8865-class USB-C to USB-C instead
  • •Peak wired power is Apple’s per-model ceiling (~20W on iPhone 13/14 non-Pro) — the phone caps the rate, not a “20W cable” label; do not expect 30W because the brick advertises it
  • •Needs a USB-C PD brick for the ~19W class — a USB-A wall brick / AL24 path stays ~11.6W; do not confuse CL20 with AL24
  • •USB 2.0 data only (480Mbps) — 100GB iPhone backups over USB will take 30–40 min; CarPlay not bench-tested in-vehicle and is riskier without verified MFi
  • •Joyroom stated bend-test figure is a manufacturer lab condition — CairoVolt verified continuity after 50 bench flex cycles only, not a lifetime bend count
  • •No independent lab teardown of JR-S-CL20 published — CairoVolt did NOT open the housings; do not assume specific IC identity
  • •Single retail unit tested; production batches may vary — verify printed model “JR-S-CL20”, GTIN 6956116750091, and any Apple MFi mark on your delivered unit
