Joyroom USB-A to Lightning Cable 1m

TL;DR
  • Joyroom JR-S-AL24 (store SKU JK12, GTIN 6956116750145) is a ~1m glossy-TPE USB-A→Lightning cable for Lightning iPhones (8–14 / SE) and Lightning accessories. CairoVolt is an independent retailer; the cable carries our store warranty. Listed ~43 EGP — the live budget desk/car spare for USB-A-only households, not a PD cable and not the retired 1.2m JR-S-AL12 braid.
  • MFi honesty first: opened sample CV-CB-JRSAL24-001 carried Joyroom branding and a 2.4A-class listing — no Apple “Made for iPhone” / MFi logo. On FNIRSI FNB58 the Lightning-end authentication response was NOT confirmed as a genuine Apple C-series IC (contrast Anker A8652H21 same lab week). iOS showed “This accessory may not be supported” on iPhone 13. Treat any MFi claim as vendor-stated until your unit’s packaging proves otherwise.
  • Electricals (instrumented, USB-A path only): tip-to-tip 101 cm (5m fiberglass tape); weight 18 g (Kkmoon 0.01g). V-drop at controlled 5V/2A: 0.13 V (≈65 mΩ VBUS+GND) on FNB58, AVHzY CT-3 ±0.01 V. Peak into iPhone 13 from Anker A2741 USB-A PowerIQ port: 11.6 W (FNB58 @ 5.07 V / 2.29 A) — honest ~12W / 5V·2.4A class. This is NOT USB-C PD 20W; USB-A cannot negotiate Apple Lightning PD 9V.
  • A/B same lab date vs JR-S-AL12 (CV-CB-JRSAL12-001, 1.2m braid, ~114 EGP, Merchant-excluded retired slug): AL24 = 101 cm / 18 g / 0.13 V@2A / 11.6 W / glossy TPE / ~43 EGP; AL12 = 120 cm / 22 g / 0.15 V@2A / 11.5 W / braid. Same ~12W USB-A class and same MFi-unverified failure mode — pay AL12 only for reach/jacket, not watts. vs JR-S-CL20 (USB-C→Lightning): CL20 hit 18.9 W on USB-C PD at 9.01 V; AL24 stayed on 5V at 11.6 W.
  • Mid-span surface after 10 min at 5V/2A: 35.8°C (BENETECH GM320, ε=0.95) in a 28.3°C room. Continuity stable after 50 bench flex cycles. USB 2.0 data only. Not for iPhone 15/16/17 (USB-C). Not JR-S-AL12 and not JR-S-CL20/CL30B. Not on Anker cable recall lists (Joyroom brand — A8482/A8483/A8465 checked anker.com/product-recalls 2026-07-24). Buy AL24 for cheap USB-A reach; buy CL20/A8652H21 when PD or verified MFi matters.
🇪🇬How this fits Egyptian use — deep dive (airlines · heat · electricity)

CairoVolt is an independent retailer — this cable carries our store warranty. JR-S-AL24 is the cheap live USB-A→Lightning spare for Egypt’s large remaining Lightning iPhone base that still plugs into older USB-A wall bricks, hotel sockets, and USB-A car ports. Six scenarios. RIGHT FOR: (1) DESK / BEDSIDE SPARE at ~43 EGP — 101 cm measured reaches a nightstand brick without stretching; glossy TPE is fine when you accept replaceability. (2) OLDER USB-A WALL BRICK / HOTEL CHARGER — peak we measured into iPhone 13 was 11.6 W from A2741 USB-A PowerIQ (FNB58); expect ~12W class, not the 18–20W PD class of JR-S-CL20. (3) CAREEM / UBER DRIVER with a USB-A car port (A2741 USB-A / older dual-port sockets) — phone gains slowly under GPS vs sitting on a weak 5V/1A port. (4) FAMILY DRAWER cable for Lightning AirPods cases and older Lightning iPads when PD is not required. (5) TRAVEL / EgyptAir pocket spare — 18 g measured. (6) BUYER WHO ALREADY OWNS USB-A bricks and does not want a USB-C PD upgrade yet. WRONG FOR: (7) ANYONE EXPECTING 20W PD / “fast charge” stickers — USB-A Lightning stays on 5V Apple 2.4A-class rails; buy JR-S-CL20 or Anker A8652H21 + a USB-C PD brick for ~19W into iPhone 13. (8) BUYER WHO NEEDS CONFIRMED APPLE MFi — our sample had no MFi mark and iOS showed the accessory warning; prefer Anker A8652H21 / A8612H11. (9) iPHONE 15 / 16 / 17 — USB-C native. (10) DO NOT CONFUSE WITH JR-S-AL12 (1.2m braid, store JK09, GTIN 6956116750237, ~114 EGP, retired / Merchant-excluded) — different MPN, length, jacket, and listing status. HEAT: Cairo July–August mean high 35°C (WeatherSpark). Mid-span at 5V/2A was 35.8°C (GM320) in a 28.3°C room — fine at ~2A; keep cables shaded on a dashboard. AUTHENTICITY: printed “JR-S-AL24” + GTIN 6956116750145; do not assume MFi from the Joyroom logo. ELECTRICITY: full iPhone 13 (12.41 Wh) charge via this ~12W path uses ≈0.014 kWh — under 3 piastres on EgyptERA Sept-2024 tariff. CROSS-SKU A/B (same lab date): vs JR-S-AL12 — AL24 = 101 cm / 18 g / 0.13 V@2A / 11.6 W / TPE / ~43 EGP; AL12 = 120 cm / 22 g / 0.15 V@2A / 11.5 W / braid / ~114 EGP; both ~12W USB-A, both MFi unverified. vs JR-S-CL20 — CL20 reached 18.9 W on USB-C PD at 9.01 V; AL24 peaked 11.6 W on USB-A 5V. vs Anker A8652H21 — Anker wins verified MFi / silent iOS; Joyroom AL24 wins price for USB-A-only households.

Prepared by the CairoVolt editorial team

“JR-S-AL24 is a USB-A to Lightning option for compatible devices. Verify its exact current, data, length and MFi statements and remember that USB-A does not provide USB-C PD.”

Product FAQs

Is this cable compatible with iPhone 17?

No, iPhone 17 uses USB-C. This USB-A to Lightning cable is designed for iPhone 14/13/12/11 and earlier models that have the Lightning port.

What's the difference between this and USB-C cables?

USB-A is the traditional rectangular connector found on older chargers. USB-C offers faster charging. Use this cable if your charger has USB-A port.

What warranty and return terms apply?

Review the written policy for this exact listing. It defines the applicable duration, eligibility, covered defects, exclusions, proof of purchase and service steps.

Does it support fast charging?

Charging speed is limited by the USB-A charger, Lightning device, and the cable's stated current rating. This connection does not provide USB-C PD fast charging.

Is this cable MFi certified?

Check the MFi statement for the exact model on the supplied packaging or Joyroom documentation. Do not infer certification, warranty status or surge protection from the connector shape alone.

Details

The Joyroom USB-A to Lightning cable (JR-S-AL24) connects an older USB-A source to compatible Lightning devices. Charging speed depends on the source, device and cable rating; it does not provide USB-C PD. Verify length, current rating, data capability and any MFi statement for this exact model on the supplied package and current documentation.

Key checks:

  • ⚡ Listed current: verify the cable's printed rating and the USB-A source profile.
  • 📱 Lightning devices: confirm the exact device port, MFi statement and charging requirements.
  • 📏 Listed 1m length: compare the reach with the intended outlet or desk setup.
  • 💰 Current listing: check the live price, stock and current warranty terms.

How to verify this model before buying

For model JR-S-AL24, start with the manufacturer-rated connector types, rated power or data capability and cable length printed on the unit or packaging. Match the connector and required protocol to your exact device. Actual performance varies with the device, settings, temperature and usage, so general examples are not laboratory measurements of this unit. Check the current package contents, price, stock, warranty and return terms on this page before ordering.

Lightning Compatibility and MFi Check

A Lightning connector does not by itself prove MFi status or permanent compatibility with every software update. Verify the statement for JR-S-AL24 on the supplied packaging or current manufacturer record, and stop using a damaged or unusually hot cable.

Using an Older USB-A Charger

This cable can connect a compatible Lightning device to a USB-A charger or vehicle port. Actual current is limited by the lowest-rated part of the setup; inspect the source and match its output before use.

Compatible Devices:

  • 📱 iPhone 14/13/12/11/SE: Full 2.4A charging.
  • 📱 iPad (Lightning): Standard charging.
  • 🎧 AirPods Pro/3: Charging.
  • ❌ iPhone 17/16/15: NOT compatible (use USB-C cable).

⚠️ Buyer Warning:

This cable does NOT work with iPhone 17/16/15 (USB-C). It is for Lightning-port iPhones only. Check your phone's charging port before ordering.

🔬Bench-tested at CairoVolt

A real hands-on measurement — tap to show the verdict and numbers.

The verdict

JR-S-AL24 is an honest ~12W USB-A→Lightning spare (11.6W into iPhone 13, 0.13V @ 2A/1m) — not PD 20W. MFi not verified on our sample. Distinct from AL12 (1.2m braid). Pick CL20/A8652H21 for PD; pick AL24 for cheap USB-A reach.

How we tested it

Per Bench Test Protocol §7.4 (cables): tip-to-tip length with a 5m fiberglass tape; weight on a Kkmoon 0.01g scale. MFi honesty: visual check for Apple Made for iPhone / MFi logo on the opened package; Lightning-end authentication presence checked via FNIRSI FNB58 (fw 1.3) while inline between Anker A2741 USB-A PowerIQ port and a live iPhone 13 (battery health 89%, start SoC 22%); iOS accessory-warning behaviour logged over a 45-min session. Peak wattage logged on FNB58 during the 22%→45% climb on the USB-A path only; cross-checked with AVHzY CT-3 (agreement 0.04 W). Explicitly did NOT claim or attempt USB-C PD 9V/20W through this USB-A cable — Apple Lightning PD requires a USB-C PD source (see JR-S-CL20 same lab date). Voltage drop: controlled 2A constant-current at 5V through JUWEI 35W electronic load on the USB-A side plus a Lightning-to-USB-A load jig on the Lightning end (jig for load simulation ONLY — not part of the delivered accessory chain); FNB58 source-vs-load V, AVHzY CT-3 cross-check (±0.01 V). Cable surface temperature: BENETECH GM320 (ε=0.95) at three mid-span points and strain-relief after 10 minutes at 5V/2A. Continuity rechecked after 50 manual flex cycles (30° at each strain relief). Physical A/B vs JR-S-AL12 (CV-CB-JRSAL12-001) on the same date for length, weight, V-drop, peak W, jacket class, and MFi behaviour. Cross-SKU commentary also uses published CairoVolt results for JR-S-CL20 (18.9 W PD) and Anker A8652H21 (19.5 W PD, verified MFi). Independent corroboration (not our data): Apple iPhone 13 12.41 Wh (apple.com/iphone-13/specs); USB-IF / Apple Lightning PD requires USB-C PD source for ~20W class (MacRumors wired ceiling); anker.com/product-recalls 2026-07-24. Single retail unit; production batches may vary. Not measured this date: in-vehicle CarPlay; independent IC teardown (housings not opened).

✅ Strengths (measured)

  • •V-drop 0.13 V at 5V/2A over ~1.01m (FNB58; AVHzY ±0.01 V) — ≈65 mΩ implied; within §7.4 acceptable band for 1m copper at 2A; 0.02 V below AL12’s longer 1.2m span as expected
  • •11.6 W peak into iPhone 13 from A2741 USB-A PowerIQ (FNB58 @ 5.07 V / 2.29 A) — honest ~12W / 5V·2.4A class for older USB-A bricks
  • •Mid-span 35.8°C after 10 min at 5V/2A (GM320, ambient 28.3°C) — cool at Lightning USB-A current
  • •Length 101 cm / weight 18 g (tape + 0.01g scale) — pocket spare at ~43 EGP for USB-A-only households; live gold vs AL12’s Merchant-excluded 1.2m braid
  • •Not on Anker cable recall lists (Joyroom brand; A8482/A8483/A8465 verified anker.com/product-recalls 2026-07-24)

⚠️ Limitations (measured)

  • •MFi NOT verified on sample CV-CB-JRSAL24-001 — no Apple MFi packaging mark; Lightning auth not confirmed as genuine Apple C-series on FNB58; iOS showed “This accessory may not be supported.” Buy Anker A8652H21 / A8612H11 when silent MFi acceptance matters
  • •NOT USB-C PD 20W — USB-A stays on ~5V / ~2.4A class (11.6 W measured). For ~19W into iPhone 13 buy JR-S-CL20 or Anker A8652H21 with a USB-C PD brick
  • •Lightning connector — NOT for iPhone 15/16/17 (USB-C native); use JR-S-CC60 or A8865-class USB-C to USB-C instead
  • •≠ JR-S-AL12 (1.2m braid, JK09, GTIN 6956116750237, ~114 EGP, Merchant-excluded retired) and ≠ JR-S-CL20/CL30B (USB-C→Lightning) — different MPNs / power classes; do not substitute listings
  • •USB 2.0 data only (480Mbps) — large iPhone backups are slow; CarPlay not bench-tested in-vehicle and is riskier without verified MFi
  • •CairoVolt verified continuity after 50 bench flex cycles only — not a manufacturer lifetime bend count
  • •No independent lab teardown of JR-S-AL24 published — CairoVolt did NOT open the housings; do not assume specific IC identity
