EPR and SPR — What Is the Difference?

PD 3.1 splits into two ranges:

  • 🔵 SPR (Standard Power Range): From 0 to 100W — this is exactly the same as PD 3.0. Every PD 3.1 charger supports SPR automatically. Voltages: 5V, 9V, 15V, 20V.
  • 🟠 EPR (Extended Power Range): From 100W to 240W — this is the new part. Uses high voltages: 28V, 36V, 48V. Requires a special cable (EPR-rated cable) that can handle the higher voltage.
